A graduate from the esteemed University of Maryland, John’s academic foundation enriches his practical prowess. Beyond the bustle of construction, his leisure pursuits reveal a multi-faceted persona. Leading the charge in overseeing JC Development’s project design and construction endeavors is Dan. Armed with an intricate understanding of the local real estate landscape and a wealth of expertise in design and construction management, Dan stands as the linchpin ensuring the production of impeccable workmanship and the seamless progression of projects adhering to timelines.

Dan’s journey traces back to his formative years in Richmond, where he embraced construction as a familial tradition, much like his father. His early immersion in the field cultivated a hands-on understanding that would later blossom into a formidable career. Prior to his role at JC Development, Dan honed his skills at prominent entities such as Stanley Martin Homes and NVR, amassing valuable experience that now informs his leadership.

A proud alumnus of Roanoke College, Dan holds a degree in Finance, a foundation that enriches his comprehensive grasp of project management. Beyond academics, his passion for basketball found expression during his college years. Presently residing in Alexandria with his wife, Devon, their endearing labradoodle, Belle, and their newest addition, Theodore “Teddy” Allen Schmitt, born in late Spring, Dan finds his greatest joys in family life.

Adhering to budgetary constraints, I meticulously determine essential resources—ranging from skilled manpower to essential equipment and materials—spanning the project’s entire lifecycle. This strategic planning continues as I orchestrate the sequence of construction operations, crafting an intricately detailed schedule that guarantees the fulfillment of critical deadlines.

Steering the acquisition of equipment and materials, I vigilantly monitor stock levels, nimbly addressing any shortages to maintain seamless project momentum. Adept in team-building, I assume the role of a discerning leader, recruiting and delegating responsibilities to contractors and staff, while consistently nurturing a cohesive work environment.
